About

Sanctuary Players is the result of Sara Whitaker’s lifetime devotion to theatre arts. Her efforts have created this production company. Sara is the founder, producer and director.

Local credits are Doris Walker in Excelsior Players “Miracle on 34th Street”, Gwendolyn Pigeon and Assistant Director in “The Odd Couple,” and Bobbi Michelle in The Opera House Theatre Players’ “The Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” for which she received a best actress award for the season.

Sara is an award winning director, actor and choreographer, who loves painting, writing poetry and the beautiful Piney Woods of East Texas.

She is the Junior High youth director at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson and a member of “The Pulpwood Queens.”

She looks forward to more theatrical collaborations with the fine folks of this unique and special community.

Sara has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, and additional training from Oregon Shakespeare Festival and American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.
